Hello all, hopefully not goodbye all. Its been an interesting quarter fill with many new subjects and interesting people. This class has truly been fun to work with. The small class size definitely helped everyone, including myself, to add to the conversation without ever feeling like what what we were saying was unimportant. The same goes to the discussion sections. It was really interesting to see how a literature class truly evolves into a history lecture as we delve into the content and background of a work. My personal favorite primary work is probably Jamaica Kincaid's A Small Place. Before then I really had not read anything written in the second person. Even though I was reading and analyzing the passages for the way it related to the class, it was  simply fun to read a style that isn't used very often. the way the tourist is called out for their ignorance was both funny and depressing to read. It truly speaks to the importance of keeping in mind the history of any place we visit and to learning how the world's colonial powers have affected even the smallest of nations throughout the world. These effects, while seldom felt here, ripple throughout the old colonies. All in all, the course was fun, informative, and really opened me up to learning more history and reading similar works.
